School Meals Supervisory Assistant job summary

  1. Supervision of pupils, either in the lunch hall or other areas in the school, whilst they are eating lunch or taking part in lunchtime activities.

  1. Carry out associated duties, e.g. serving lunch, clear spillages, clean tables and chairs, stack tables and chairs that are used during the lunch break, sweep floor and wash up as required.

  1. Report to staff any accidents of the type identified by the school - e.g. head injuries, or pupils who become unwell, so that parents can be contacted.

  1. Report to teaching staff/Principal any strangers, visitors or potential hazards on the school site.

  1. Attend inset day training when required.

  1. Take part in job review meetings and SMSA training meetings when requested

  1. Support the aims, ethos and values of the school by example and ensure that they are followed by pupils in line with school policies (for example the Behaviour and Discipline policy).

  1. Provide high quality supervision while pupils are playing in outdoor and indoor spaces that ensures that children are safety

  1. Be an active, assertive and supportive member of the lunchtime team that positively engages with all pupils to enable them to have a pleasurable lunchtime.

  1. Work within school policies to be fair, and consistent with boundaries so that pupils feel safe and supported.

  1. To complete all the mandatory safeguarding training within the expected timeframes.

  1. To adhere to all the safeguarding protocols and procedures
