Sir Thomas Fremantle School is seeking a skilled and motivated Science Leader - 2nd in Department to support the leadership and ongoing development of our Science provision. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Science teacher who is ready to take the next step in their career and contribute to curriculum development, team leadership and high standards of teaching and learning.
Working closely with the Head of Department, you will play a key role in shaping the Science curriculum, supporting colleagues and ensuring students make strong progress across Key Stages 3 and 4. You will be a confident classroom practitioner who models excellent teaching and supports others to continually improve.

Sir Thomas Fremantle School is an ambitious 11-16 secondary school serving a close-knit community in North Buckinghamshire. With around 700 students, we place strong emphasis on knowing every pupil well and supporting them to succeed both academically and personally. Our modern, purpose-built site opened in 2017 and provides excellent facilities to support high-quality Science teaching.

The Role
As Science Leader - 2nd in Department, you will:
- Support the leadership, evaluation and development of the Science department
- Teach confidently across KS3 and KS4, including GCSE specifications
- Model excellent classroom practice and maintain high expectations for teaching and learning
- Support the induction, development and appraisal of colleagues within the department
- Work with the Head of Department to develop schemes of learning, resources and the GCSE syllabus
- Monitor student progress and use assessment effectively to improve outcomes
- Promote positive behaviour and ensure a safe, purposeful learning environment
- Contribute to enrichment and extra-curricular Science opportunities
- Engage fully in departmental meetings, curriculum development and whole-school initiatives

- Hold a degree in a relevant subject and Qualified Teacher Status
- Have strong knowledge of the KS3 and KS4 Science curriculum and GCSE specifications
- Have experience of, or readiness for, subject or aspect leadership
- Demonstrate the ability to inspire, motivate and support colleagues
- Maintain high expectations and a strong commitment to inclusion
- Build positive relationships with students, staff and parents
- Show commitment to professional development and reflective practice
