Science Teacher job summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and committed Teacher of Science to join our successful and supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate practitioner to deliver high-quality teaching and make a real difference to students’ outcomes and experiences in a key curriculum area.
There is potential for a TLR for a suitable candidate who is ready to support leadership within the department as 2nd in Science.
The successful candidate will:
Be a strong Science specialist, able to teach KS3 and ideally KS4/GCSE
Have consistently high expectations for student achievement and behaviour
Deliver high-quality teaching that secures excellent progress for all learners
Use assessment effectively to inform planning and support progress
Contribute to curriculum development and enrichment within Science
Build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues
Be committed to safeguarding, pastoral care, and student wellbeing
Show enthusiasm for ongoing professional development and leadership opportunities
Play a full role in pastoral care as a Form Tutor, supporting students’ wellbeing and development
Requirements:
Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent or willingness to gain QTS
A degree in Science or a related field preferred.
Experience teaching Science at the secondary level.
Strong communication and organisational skills.
A commitment to continuous professional development.

Chiltern Hills Academy is a Church of England, co-educational secondary school in Chesham, Buckinghamshire. There are circa 1025 students on the school roll, approximately 100 of whom study in the sixth form. Chiltern Hills Academy converted to academy status in 2011 and is jointly sponsored by the Diocese of Oxford and Buckinghamshire County Council.
We are situated in the market town of Chesham, Buckinghamshire in the Chiltern Hills, designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. Situated close to the M40 and the M25, Chesham is on the end of Metropolitan line of the London Underground and is 28 miles north-west of London. There is ample parking on-site. Renting here is cheaper than in central London and if you enjoy travelling, it takes about 40 minutes by car to Heathrow.
The Elgiva Theatre, Lowndes Park and an open-air heated swimming pool are just some of the many public amenities available in the town. Chesham is renowned for its community spirit and there are many recreational and community groups catering for the diverse and active population.
