With you in our classrooms, we can change lives.

We're looking for a passionate teacher to join our ambitious, supportive team at Ryde Academy, on the Isle of Wight. You will be joining a friendly, welcoming and dedicated Science department.

Ready to make an impact?

Join us to play a vital role in shaping young lives and helping every student reach their potential. At Ryde Academy, you'll collaborate with inspiring colleagues who share your commitment, with the support and resources you need to focus on what matters most - providing an excellent education in every classroom, every day.

There is flexibility within this role so there is the possibility to take on some teaching of our sixth form students, for those who are excited about expanding their repertoire and we could also offer the possibility of flexible working as well (as we could offer a minimum of 0.6 FTE for an exceptional candidate).

Ryde's Science department is one of the largest departments in the school and is full of supportive, approachable colleagues with lots of experiences to share. A variety of A-Level subjects are taught, as well as triple Science.

Leaders of the department are committed to providing staff with a range of measures to reduce workload. We have a well resourced department, a range of equipment for practicals and focused strategic shared marking takes place. In addition to the 5 Inset Days teachers normally receive, Lift Schools provide an additional 5 inset days to support the professional development of staff.

Our commitment to excellence is expansive - academic excellence is just one part of that. We are just as serious about the wider curriculum and the overall experience of being at school. We believe schools should be joyful and fun, places where children want to be, where they are eager to learn, and where they can truly excel.

Ryde Academy

Ryde Academy, based on the Isle of Wight, is an 11 to 18 years Secondary Academy and is sponsored by Lift Schools. The school is set in spacious grounds and had a completely new state of the art building in 2017.
Known as the "Garden Isle" because of its beautiful landscape, unspoilt beaches, rugged coastline and beautiful countryside; the Isle of Wight is a perfect place to raise a family.

Judged as 'Good' by Ofsted in November 2022, Ryde Academy is a school that pupils feel proud to attend, with a calm and orderly environment. Staff are also proud to work at the school and recognise that leaders are considerate of their workload.

The role is due to commence January 2025.

Closing date: 17 December 2024
