Science Teacher job summary

This is an exciting opportunity to apply for a key role and join an outstanding team. We are looking for a dedicated and experienced individual to help lead, develop and improve teaching and learning throughout the 11-18 age and ability range. To plan lessons to make them meet the necessary educational objectives and to attempt to make them enjoyable, personalised and challenging for students; to aim to plan lessons that meet the needs of the individual needs of students. Responsibilities:

  • To teach the relevant subjects throughout the age and ability range. To achieve high standards in this.

  • To adhere to the school’s code of conduct and mission statement.

  • To plan lessons to make them meet the necessary educational objectives and to attempt to make them enjoyable, personalised and challenging for students; to aim to plan lessons that meet the needs of the individual needs of students.

  • To contribute significantly to the development of appropriate specifications, materials, resources and schemes of work.

  • To monitor pupil progress; assessment of pupils; and recording of statements of attainment.

  • To set homework and mark students’ work in accordance with the school’s expectations, standards and policies.

  • To pay due regard and to promote the school’s policies on a variety of educational issues, including SEN, literacy, differentiation, digital learning and assessment for learning.

  • To have due regard to the school’s commitment to Continuing Professional Development and to aim to develop one’s own professional practice and to support the development of colleagues.

  • To use technology such as Google Classroom, Show my Homework and other digital learning platforms to further independent learning effectively.

  • To pay due regard and to promote the school’s policies on a variety of educational issues, including SEN, Literacy, differentiation, the use of the VLE and ICT to further learning and Assessment for Learning

  • To enrich the curriculum for students and show commitment to supporting trips, clubs, revision lessons and extra-curricular learning activities.
