Science Technician job summary

Are you in search of a rewarding role supporting both teachers and students? We are looking to recruit an outstanding Science Technician who is able to assist in the efficient running of our science laboratories on a temporary (maternity cover) basis. 

Your Opportunity

Merstham Park School is looking to appoint a conscientious and dedicated Science Technician to provide technical and learning support to teaching staff and to our students. This role will be well suited for candidates who are looking to work with students to advise and guide them safely so that their learning in Science is safe and enjoyable.

  • Ability to plan and prioritise a range of regular and irregular tasks within specific deadlines.
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as part of a team.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to follow strict Health and Safety Regulations.
  • Good knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office programs - Excel, Word, Outlook (training can be provided)

The Details

Start date: May 2026

Contract type: Temporary Maternity Cover, Term-time only

Working hours: 28.75hrs per week, 39 weeks of the year (flexible timings/days)

Pay Scale: GLF Specialist £27,061

Actual Salary: £18,592.00

Close Date: 1st March 2026
