Science Technician job summary
The successful candidate will work as part of a team of Technicians to support teachers in the Science department with the preparation of teaching materials and setting up demonstration experiments to enhance student learning. Prior experience in laboratory work is desirable and an interest in science and an eagerness to learn are key. Excellent planning, organisation and time management skills are required in order to carry out the key responsibilities of this role which include:
the operation and maintenance of our well-stocked and equipped preparation rooms
timely and effective preparation and delivery of substances, equipment and resources for Science lessons
controlling stock and liaising with the Senior Technician regarding orders
providing support during lessons
The successful candidate will have:
excellent communication/interpersonal skills
a high standard of literacy and numeracy
the ability to work under pressure
the ability to work on own initiative
A full induction will be provided, with training and support as necessary.
The vacancy is for 30 hours per week, term time (39 working weeks). This would ideally include 8am-3:30pm four days a week (with a flexible day off) but the hours could equally be split over five days There is flexibility in working hours for the right candidate.
