Wyvern Academy, part of the Consilium Academies Trust, is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Science Technician to join our thriving Science Department.
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly organised individual with a passion for science and a commitment to supporting outstanding teaching and learning. Working closely with teaching staff, you will play a vital role in preparing practical lessons, maintaining laboratory resources and ensuring a safe and effective learning environment for our students.

About the Role
As Science Technician, you will provide high-quality technical support across the Science Department, ensuring practical lessons are delivered safely, efficiently and effectively.
Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing and setting up equipment, chemicals and materials for practical science lessons
- Maintaining, servicing and safely storing scientific equipment
- Managing stock levels and supporting resource ordering
- Supporting teachers with practical activities and demonstrations
- Ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations, including COSHH and CLEAPSS guidance
- Maintaining accurate records and inventories using digital systems
- Promoting a safe, organised and effective laboratory environment
What We're Looking For
We are seeking someone who:
Essential:
- Holds GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Mathematics
- Has experience working in a practical support, laboratory, school or technical environment
- Has experience working safely with equipment, materials or tools
- Demonstrates excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Can work independently while contributing effectively as part of a team
- Has strong communication and ICT skills
- Is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
Desirable:
- Qualification or background in a science-related discipline
- Experience supporting practical science activities within a secondary school
- Knowledge of CLEAPSS guidance and science laboratory procedures
- Experience of stock control and resource management
- Health & Safety or COSHH training
