Who we are looking for
- Qualified Teacher Status
- A strong academic background in relevant subject
- Evidence of commitment to further subject-specific professional development
- Knowledge of subject education research and key debates within the science subject community
- Knowledge of the national curriculum programme of study for science and current subject developments.
- Familiar with recent developments in the teaching and learning of the subject including strategies for raising achievement.
- Experience of teaching in a UK academy
- Excellent subject knowledge and expertise demonstrated through science teaching experience
Productive participation and engagement with the national subject community through engagement with subject associations, subject education journals, subject-specific CPD on curriculum development and teaching

- To support the leadership of Science.
- To be the Second in Department for Science and be responsible for leading aspects of curriculum implementation, developing teaching and learning, managing and supporting the work of the department to secure effective leadership and management of the department and high standards of staff performance.

Malcolm Arnold Academy is a co-educational secondary school based in Northampton, Northamptonshire, for students aged 11-18. The school takes its name from the legendary composer Sir Malcolm Arnold. Born in Northampton in 1921, he was one of the leading figures in 20th-century classical music and helped to establish the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain.
