What skills and experience we're looking for
This is an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated, committed and enthusiastic teacher to take on a leadership role within the English department at King Edward VI School. The successful candidate will support the Head of English with the leadership and management of provision across the age and ability range. They will be involved in monitoring achievement across the department with responsibility for assessing the need for, planning, implementing and monitoring the impact of subject intervention. They will have the opportunity to lead on aspects of departmental quality assurance and carry out a range of other management roles as required.
We are looking for an exceptional practitioner with some experience in subject leadership. The successful candidate will have a pro-active approach and excellent communication skills. As Second in English they will have a strategic role in working alongside the Head of English to shape the development of the department and maximise achievement across the all key stages. With 87% of grades at 9-4, 78% and 20% of grades at 9-7 in GCSE English in 2024, the postholder will be joining a high-performing, collaborative department.
