Secondary Academy Principal (Headteacher) and School Improvement Executive job summary

Secondary Principal and School Improvement Executive

Are you looking to take your next step towards an executive role, now or from September 2022?

Help us take our next steps by contributing to the leadership and future development of our ambitious and well-regarded Trust.

Are you an exceptional secondary Principal / Headteacher? Are you keen to develop your skills and knowledge and to broaden your experience as part of your progression towards an executive role, but thrive on being able to directly impact day-to-day on your students’ life chances?

This exciting new role offers you just that: the opportunity to lead one of our secondary academies, combined with the chance to play a key role our School Improvement team and to have significant impact cross-Trust.

Initially, pending appointment to a Principal vacancy, you will be based full-time in the Trust's School Improvement team, bringing your knowledge, insights and leadership experience to support improving academies or senior leadership teams to add capacity and mentor and coach senior colleagues. As a Principal of one of our secondary academies, you will then continue to support cross Trust improvement initiatives an average of 1 - 2 days per week: your ongoing School Improvement Executive role provides an excellent opportunity you to continue to develop and demonstrate successful contribution to the Trust, as well as to grow our senior leaders ready for their next roles and to ensure we retain the very best people.

Our successful candidate will have substantial experience of secondary education and demonstrable success as a school leader. You will be a highly effective communicator who operates with high integrity and is a positive role model for all: it’s essential we take our staff, pupils and local communities us on our journey.

This is a great time to join the University of Brighton Academies Trust as we mature as an organisation, seek to grow in a modest and planned way and to maintain our reputation as a quality regional provider.

Initially you will work on a hybrid basis with your office base being the Trust’s Brighton office.
