Secondary Phase Teacher job summary
Thank you for showing an interest in a teaching post at St John’s CE Academy. We are delighted that you are considering joining our team at this exciting stage in our journey.
St John’s is a distinctive, brand-new all-through Church of England Academy, serving children and young people aged 2 to 16. We opened our Primary Phase in 2023, welcomed our first Year 7 cohort in September 2025, and will continue to grow year on year until the school is fully established in 2029.
We are seeking to appoint a number of classroom teachers across a broad range of secondary subject areas. As a growing school, we are particularly excited to welcome colleagues who are enthusiastic, flexible, and keen to help shape an exceptional secondary phase from its earliest years. We warmly welcome applications from both Early Career Teachers (ECTs) and experienced teachers.
At this stage of development, timetables may initially involve teaching across more than one subject area. While there may be opportunities to specialise as the school expands, this cannot be guaranteed straight away. The exact combination of subjects and responsibilities will depend on the overall pattern of appointments and will be discussed openly and supportively at interview.
This is a once in a career opportunity to join a new and flourishing school at an exciting point in its development, where high-quality teaching, strong relationships, and a shared commitment to excellence are already very evident.
You will work alongside an exceptional team of Faculty Leads, appointed in the first year, who have developed an ambitious, well-sequenced curriculum with outstanding resources, enabling staff to focus on excellent classroom practice. Collaborative planning and professional development are central to our culture as we grow together. Please read the accompanying documents, including The SJO Way, for further insight into our ethos and the opportunities available. We warmly encourage you to apply.
Visits
We warmly invite prospective candidates to visit the school for a tour and to meet members of the team. We will be holding an open day on Friday 13th February at any time between 8:00am - 16:30pm, and candidates are very welcome to come and meet colleagues, see students, and learn more about St John’s. To arrange a visit, please contact us via our enquiries email: Enquiries-Secondary@sjo.cambrianlt.org. Candidates are also welcome to speak with us prior to submitting an application to discuss the intended appointments and subject areas in more detail.
Closing Date
The closing date for applications will be Monday 23rd February @ 9:00am.
Interview dates will be confirmed following the closing date and further information regarding the interview schedule will be provided with this invitation.
