Secondary Teacher of ICT & Computing (HOD) job summary
We are looking for teachers who wish to develop their curriculum area in an innovative and exciting way. The chance to join the school at this stage would suit a colleague who is excited by the opportunity to put their mark on the school and their subject in particular. For an individual who recognizes the potential afforded by this post and who also appreciates that the responsibility associated with joining a school at this stage in is development it is a truly unique opportunity.
Over the next five-years Pix Brook Academy will grow into a full secondary school with over one thousand pupils. Every post and area of responsibility will need filling and as such we are keen to meet candidates with the potential to meet the needs of the school in the future. Particular experiences, while useful, are not as important as the ambition and drive to achieve great things. We are looking for candidates who share our values of ambition, aspiration and responsibility. Those who join us at this stage of the school’s development will be ideally placed to both influence the school’s development and achieve their professional ambitions.
As a teacher of ICT & Computing, you will be building upon the work undertaken by our experienced primary colleagues. The appointee will be able to have a clear insight into the work undertaken during year 5 and 6 and as a consequence be ideally placed to formulate your own curriculum and pedagogical approach. As the Head of our new ICT & Computing Department you will contribute to the development of this department and be fundamental to its growth and success. The nature of the school's pupil recruitment means that for the first few years the immediate pressure of examination results will not apply, however the Trust and Governors are clear that Pix Brook Academy will provide an outstanding education in all areas and expects outstanding results in the fullness of time.
We believe that this is a unique opportunity, and that the work associated with taking on this role will be significant. What the school has to offer in return is also significant: as part of a multi academy trust there is support from the trust school improvement team who are based at the school; there is a staff body who while small are equally driven to achieve great things and who work together fantastically well and we have a pupil body of superb young people who enjoy coming to school and are equally motivated to succeed. As the inaugural Principal of the Academy I am clear on my responsibilities to provide the support and environment for all members of this community to succeed.
If you have values that resonate with ours and you can see the potential afforded by this post then I would be delighted to meet with you.
