SEMH Support Assistant job summary

Working Pattern 20 Hours Monday - Friday 9am-1pm

A great opportunity has arisen for an SEMH Support Assistant to join our small friendly team. We are looking for someone with experience of, or an interest in, training to manage the sometimes challenging behaviours children with SEMH difficulties can present with.

Acorns is a purpose built Essex SEMH Enhanced Provision, hosted at White Bridge Primary School. We provide early intervention for up to 8 KS2 children who are not learning or progressing in their current school because of the barriers caused by emotional needs or social difficulties.

Acorns provides each child with a curriculum planned for their individual needs, as an SEMH Support Assistant within Acorns, you would play a vital role in the success of the placement, supporting pupils both within the provision and at their ‘home’ school.

Our learners are energetic and active, so we would welcome applications from colleagues who enjoy sport and spending time outdoors.

The successful candidate will need to:

  • hold a relevant qualification at NVQ Level 2 or above

  • Have some experience of working with children with a range of special educational needs

  • Have a caring nature

  • Be able to communicate effectively with children and adults

  • Be able to work as part of a team
