About the role:
Rossett School is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEMH Teacher to join our team and play a vital role in supporting students with social, emotional, and mental health needs within our mainstream setting. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate educator with a strong background in teaching Maths, English, and Science at Key Stages 3 and 4, and a commitment to inclusive, nurturing education. This is a key position for someone who is committed to helping every student achieve their full potential, both academically and personally, in a supportive and inclusive environment.
Rossett School’s Learning Support Centre:
We provide termly placements for students that are at risk of continued suspension or permanent exclusion. The LSC has developed over the past three years as part of Rossett School’s commitment to inclusive education. The LSC supports students struggling to access mainstream provision due to complex needs.
The main aim is for LSC staff to provide care, identify barriers to learning and find ways to overcome them – working closely with the family and relevant support agencies, with the clear intention of enabling the student to return to a mainstream learning environment.
A small, dedicated team of SEMH specialist staff use relational, trauma-informed approaches to foster a true sense of belonging by creating a nurturing, familial feel to the centre: students still retain their sense of being part of the school community; the LSC offers a high-quality bespoke KS3 and KS4 curriculum tailored to cover the Core subject skills, as well as providing a range of nurturing activities including Outdoor education and work experience placements. Classes sizes are typically 6 students with support available.
From September 2025, the LSC will be working in collaboration with North Yorkshire Local Authority to offer targeted mainstream places. Consequently, we are looking for a committed and inspirational teacher with mainstream and SEMH experience with the flexibility to build strong relationships and the passion to change the lives of SEMH students. As an evolving project, we are looking for a member of staff with aspirations to help us develop the centre further, and the potential for developing wider leadership skills.
Culture and values: As a member of our Trust, you will benefit from;
- being part of a truly collaborative trust, working with professional generosity and towards a shared mission of nurturing ambition, delivering excellence and enriching children’s lives
- our Trust commitment to continued invest in our people, supporting every member of staff throughout their career to be the best they can be
- a clear set of RKLT values and a celebration of equality and diversity
