Pool Hayes Academy are looking to appoint a committed and self-motivate SEMH Teaching Assistant, with a real drive to enhance students’ experience of secondary education. The successful applicant will be responsible for improving the social, emotional and mental wellbeing of identified vulnerable students in order to increase their academic outcomes.

The role will include working with students with special educational needs and also includes working with students who are hard to reach and may have difficulties with attendance. This role will include delivering elements of the academic curriculum, with guidance from subject leaders, to enable students to achieve exam success.

The department is part of a well led, dynamic team, whose colleagues all enjoy supporting the Academy and its culture of outstanding success amongst our students.

The ideal candidate will have a grade 4/C or above in a range of subjects including English and Maths, have strong literacy and numeracy skills and hold a level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification. Experience of working with the 11-16 age group and working with young people who are vulnerable or hard to reach are essential. You will join an academy which is dynamic and inspiring, creating a culture of outstanding success amongst our students.

Why choose Pool Hayes Academy? We have experienced substantial growth in recent years and the academy is now a provider of choice in the area and is over-subscribed. Our Ofsted rating has improved to Good in April 2022 – but that’s just the beginning of our ambition for the pupils and staff at this 11-18 academy.

Our vision for Pool Hayes Academy means that any pupil regardless of circumstance can fulfil their potential. Furthermore, we believe that educational success leads to empowerment for our young people and the freedom to make more choices over their future.

In return, you can expect fantastic Professional Development opportunities, a comprehensive employee benefits package, shopping discounts, cycle-to-work and gym schemes, cinema tickets and an employee assistance programme.

We are proud to be a part of the Academy Transformation Trust family of academies whose mission is to transform learning, aspirations and opportunities for their pupils and the communities in which they live. This commitment also extends to staff who are key to their success.
