Rushy Meadow Primary Academy is seeking a dedicated, skilled and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to work with a pupil on a 1:1 basis, supporting teaching and learning in school, as well as assisting in small-group learning activities.
This is an exciting opportunity to become part of an experienced and supportive team, committed to delivering the highest standards of teaching and learning across our Trust. We are looking for someone who is positive, reliable, and kind, with strong communication skills and the ability to follow school policies and procedures consistently.
You will play a key role in providing both curricular and pastoral support within our warm, welcoming school environment. No two days are the same, making this an ideal position for someone eager to develop their experience of working with children and supporting their learning.
Key Responsibilities
Teaching Assistants are expected to:
- Support the day-to-day running of the classroom alongside your colleagues
- Work with small groups of children under the direction of the class teacher
- Provide 1:1 support for individual children, including those with SEND
- Supervise pupils during break times
- Accompany classes on educational visits, including day and residential trips
- Assist with general classroom tasks such as photocopying and preparing displays
We are looking for someone who has:
- Experience supporting teaching and learning across the Foundation Stage, Key Stage 1 or Key Stage 2
- An understanding of how children learn and how best to support them
- Up-to-date knowledge of the National Curriculum and classroom practice
- An understanding of the SEN Code of Practice
- A commitment to delivering a broad and inclusive curriculum that meets the needs of all pupils
- Knowledge or understanding of British Sign Language (desirable but not essential)
- A clear understanding of safeguarding and the ability to follow safeguarding procedures
- Strong communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with children and adults
- The ability to use initiative and work effectively as part of a team
- A commitment to equality, inclusion, and promoting positive behaviour
- Personal qualities such as sensitivity, humour, enthusiasm, confidentiality, and empathy
