About the role

Here at Staynor Hall Community Primary Academy we are
looking to recruit a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated SEN Teaching
Assistant. The post is to support an individual child with special
educational needs and is subject to the named pupil's continued education at
the school. Experience of supporting pupils with SEN would be preferable.

As a
Teaching Assistant you will be passionate about teaching and learning and
believe in developing the true potential of children. You will have a calm and
positive disposition, the ability to break down activities into small step
teaching and will nurture, inspire, challenge and motivate pupils. Implementing
clear boundaries and routines, you will use positive behaviour management in
all areas around school.

Job Requirements

You will:


  • Work
    within the classroom to support the learning needs of the child;

  • Provide
    targeted 1:1 support

  • Adapt
    support dependent on the pupil's needs - communication, patience, and
    understanding will be key to this role, intimate care will also be
    required.

  • Create
    a stimulating environment in which their learning and development is
    encouraged

  • Keep
    records of the child's progress

  • Provide
    personal care to assist toileting, including changing and other self-care
    skills, encouraging independence where appropriate


  • Have
    a clear understanding of the ways in which children learn and a range of
    effective teaching styles which meet the child's individual need;

  • Be
    confident with your ability and work using your initiative

  • Work
    well within a team, be keen to share ideas, and happily except advice from
    colleagues and specialist staff

  • Be
    keen to develop your skills further by completing training signposted by
    key leaders

  • Be determined
    to make a positive difference

  • Be
    caring, friendly, adaptable and hardworking

  • Experience
    of working with a child with cerebral palsy and supporting language and
    communication is desirable
