About Us:

Castlewood School caters for primary and secondary-aged pupils who present with social, emotional, mental health (SEMH) needs. The school is comprised of a Lower and Upper school, with pupils from primary and Key Stage 3 within Lower and Key Stage 3 and 4 pupils in Upper. We create a warm, inclusive community where every child is supported to discover their strengths, build self-worth, and develop a love of learning. Our school is a close-knit community of around 100 pupils, committed to the highest standards of education and care.

Castlewood school are seeking to appoint an inspiring SEN Class teacher to join our dedicated team, at the start of the academic year 25/26, or as soon as possible thereafter.

The Role:

  • Inspire and support KS2 and KS3 children with SEMH needs, within a primary model.
  • Foster an inclusive, nurturing classroom environment.
  • Tailor teaching to meet individual pupil needs.
  • Collaborate with our experienced SEN team to deliver outstanding provision.

Castlewood School is a special day school for 96 pupils aged 4-16 with Social, Emotional and Mental Health difficulties (SEMH).



Many of our pupils also have additional needs, often due to the co-morbidity of related medical conditions. Additional needs presented include Autistic Spectrum Conditions (ASC) including Asperger’s Syndrome, Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Specific Learning Difficulties (SpLD) including dyslexia and dyspraxia and Speech, Language and Communication Needs (SLCN). Some pupils have medical conditions such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) requiring medication or visual and hearing impairments.

All pupils at Castlewood School have an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) and are admitted following close consultation with the referring Local Authorities.
