About the role

Hob Moor Oaks are seeking an outstanding and dedicated Teacher to join our dynamic and supportive special school. This is a unique opportunity to work primarily with pupils whose learning is best assessed using the Engagement Model.

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has proven, successful experience working with pupils who have profound and multiple learning disabilities (PMLD) and/or complex special educational needs.

  • Demonstrates deep knowledge and practical application of the Engagement Model for statutory assessment and ongoing curriculum planning.

  • Has a deep passion for communication, evidenced by strong practical experience and commitment to methods like Intensive Interaction and the use of Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) systems.

  • Is expert at observational assessment, identifying and recording subtle, pre-formal communication and learning responses.

  • - A proven track record and desire to lead, showing the ability to drive change and achieve impact across a subject area or a wider whole-school initiative.

  • Possesses an infectious enthusiasm and resilience, maintaining a positive, proactive approach to challenging situations.

  • Can effectively lead and direct a team of teaching assistants, inspiring them to be highly effective learning partners.

  • Highly organised and detail-oriented, ensuring all essential individual pupil plans (including Medical Care, Moving & Handling, and Communication Passports) are accurately maintained and consistently implemented by the team.

  • Is committed to working collaboratively with therapists, families, and the wider school community.
