What skills and experience we're looking for
We have a vacancy for a general teacher who has the skill set to support our students academically as well as emotionally. If you are an inspirational teacher with the ability to engage and motivate young people we would welcome your application.
You should have some experience in working with learners with challenging behaviour and be able to develop successful relationships with learners in order to inspire and motivate. An outstanding practitioner, you may be required to lead a curriculum area as well as teaching additional subjects.
The school is currently based on two sites, one in Hawk Green in Marple and one in Stockport Town Centre. They are at some geographical distance so a car owner is essential and you will be required to transport pupils. You will be deployed at either site according to the needs of the school.
What the school offers its staff
We can offer you a number of additional incentives such as free parking at both sites, a free school lunch each day and access to our Employee Assistance Programme alongside other Local Authority employee benefits.

Windlehurst School caters for young people, aged 11 to 16 who have identified Social, Emotional or Mental Health difficulties. Many of our young people will have had a long history of failing to reach their potential in mainstream schools. Pupils may have been excluded from school or found the experience stressful. Much of this stress will also have been experienced by families of the young people. The aim of Windlehurst School is to re-engage these young people in their education, through well planned, engaging and appropriately differentiated lessons, designed to meet individual needs. They are taught in small groups with a high ratio of staff to pupils and in a supportive environment. Through our website, I hope you gain a better understanding of what we do at Windlehurst and what we believe. We are very proud of our school and what our young people achieve. We are delighted to share it with you - Chris Ormiston
