About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic SEN Practitioner to work within a specialist SEN classroom to complement teachers’ professional work and support pupils’ learning and personal development.
Key responsibilities include:
- Planning, preparing and delivering agreed learning activities for individuals, groups and whole classes under teacher supervision.
- Formally assessing pupil needs and using knowledge of the EYFS and National Curriculum to support progress.
- Contributing to the development, implementation and monitoring of IEPs and providing careful, evidence-based records of pupil progress.
- Promoting independence, positive behaviour and social skills; acting as a role model and building strong relationships with pupils.
- Supporting parents/carers through constructive communication and contributing to meetings where required.
- Managing learning resources, supporting classroom organisation and assisting with administrative tasks as needed.
- Working collaboratively with the Inclusion Lead, Assistant Senco, teachers, the senior leadership team and external agencies to secure the best outcomes for pupils.
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys varied, hands-on work with pupils and is committed to reducing barriers to learning.

About you
You will be:
- A level 3-qualified teaching assistant (or equivalent experience), with good literacy and numeracy skills.
- Experienced in working with children and confident in planning or leading teaching and learning activities under supervision.
- Skilled at building strong, respectful relationships with pupils, colleagues and families.
- Knowledgeable about how to adapt learning to meet individual needs and experienced in supporting pupils to access the curriculum.
- Calm under pressure, organised and able to use observation and assessment to inform practice.
- Committed to safeguarding, confidentiality and promoting inclusion and equality for all pupils.
- Have additional training such as bilingual support, sign language, ICT specialism, ELSA qualifications — or a willingness to undertake further professional development.
