Join our warm, ambitious team at Alfred Sutton Primary School and help shape confident, curious learners who thrive academically and socially. This is an opportunity to lead meaningful learning activities, work closely with teachers and families, and develop your practice in a supportive school community.

About Alfred Sutton Primary School

About the role
We are looking for an enthusiastic SEN Practitioner to work within a specialist SEN classroom to complement teachers’ professional work and support pupils’ learning and personal development.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Planning, preparing and delivering agreed learning activities for individuals, groups and whole classes under teacher supervision.
  • Formally assessing pupil needs and using knowledge of the EYFS and National Curriculum to support progress.
  • Contributing to the development, implementation and monitoring of IEPs and providing careful, evidence-based records of pupil progress.
  • Promoting independence, positive behaviour and social skills; acting as a role model and building strong relationships with pupils.
  • Supporting parents/carers through constructive communication and contributing to meetings where required.
  • Managing learning resources, supporting classroom organisation and assisting with administrative tasks as needed.
  • Working collaboratively with the Inclusion Lead, Assistant Senco, teachers, the senior leadership team and external agencies to secure the best outcomes for pupils.

This role is ideal for someone who enjoys varied, hands-on work with pupils and is committed to reducing barriers to learning.
