At Silverwood, no two days are the same—and that’s especially true in this exciting cover teaching role. We are looking for a committed and adaptable teacher to join our secondary phase team, teaching a wide range of subjects to pupils following both formal and semi-formal curriculum.

Based at our Rowde campus, you’ll support classes across Key Stages 3–5, delivering engaging, tailored lessons that meet a diverse range of needs. You’ll play a key role in maintaining consistency, connection and curiosity for learners when their usual teacher is unavailable.

About the role:

  • Full-time cover teaching role, working across a range of secondary classes (KS3–Post 16)
  • Deliver lessons in a wide variety of subjects, adapting to different classroom contexts
  • Teach pupils working on both formal and semi-formal curriculum pathways
  • Work flexibly across the school as needed, providing consistency and continuity in learning
  • Engage pupils in outdoor learning opportunities, using the school’s extensive natural grounds and facilities
  • Build strong relationships quickly and work closely with teaching assistants and phase teams
  • Contribute to a dynamic and forward-thinking educational environment

We are looking for someone who:

  • Thrives on variety and brings a calm, organised and responsive teaching style
  • Has experience or a strong interest in teaching pupils with SEND across Key Stages 3–5
  • Demonstrates confident classroom management and flexibility in different subject areas
  • Communicates effectively and builds rapport with both pupils and colleagues
  • Has a flexible approach to learning and is understanding of some of the unique challenges this role may bring
  • Is passionate about making learning accessible, engaging and purposeful
  • Embraces outdoor learning and practical approaches to teaching

What the school offers its staff

What we offer:

  • The opportunity to work across a wide age range of secondary-aged pupils with varied needs
  • Exposure to a broad curriculum—including academic, vocational and life skills-based subjects
  • An inclusive and supportive team environment where collaboration is highly valued
  • Access to expansive outdoor learning areas and school animals
  • A comprehensive induction and CPD package tailored to the unique demands of SEN teaching
  • Fast-track opportunities into middle leadership for those seeking progression
  • A school culture that values empathy, professionalism and work/life balance

“Silverwood has a real sense of community and we are forever evolving and changing as a school. It’s a really exciting and inspirational place to work with fantastic people in every department and level in the school.”
