Lerryn CofE School is a small school based in the heart of the picturesque village of Lerryn. The school which is sat at the top of a small hill boasts stunning views of the river and Lerryn’s famous stepping stones. Lerryn School is an ideal location for outdoor learning and activities. The school is proud to be at the heart of the village community.
The two small mixed age classes provide a unique and personalised education for our children. All of the children are able to access the wider Trust outdoor offer which includes rock climbing, mountain booking and canoeing. The children also have the opportunity to access a yearly residential from Y2-Y6 including London, Cardiff and Beer.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and caring 1:1 Teaching Assistant to join our small supportive and talented team. You will be supported by the Area Hub Leader, Trust SENDCo and Trust improvement leads. You will be asked to assist in the educational, personal, and social development of a child under the direction and guidance of relevant colleagues.
Our ideal candidate will:
Have experience working with children with SEN on 1:1 basis or in class
Training or experience in Makaton
Be passionate about working with SEND children on a 1:1 basis
Be flexible, proactive and patient
Be able to communicate effectively within a team
Work well as part of a caring team, under the direction of the Class Teacher.
Recognise the varying needs of individual learners and adjust tasks accordingly.
Contribute to our Church of England ethos.
Secure high quality relationships with parents, carers and the wider community.
Bring creativity and enthusiasm to each and every new day.
The role would be term time from 8.45am - 3.15pm, Monday to Friday, totalling 30 hours a week. This is a fixed term contract until 31st August 2026 subject to ongoing funding being received.
