SEN Teaching Assistant

Part time - 24hrs per week over 4 days to be paid at NJC Grade C, £13.47 per hour

Fixed Term Temporary post to commence September 2026

This is a fixed term appointment linked to EHCP funding for specific support for a pupil with complex educational and medical needs in KS2.

You will provide in class support including tailored interventions and we are looking to appoint an individual with a sensitive and nurturing approach. The successful applicant will need to be flexible, communicate effectively and think creatively.

We are looking for someone with a strong, sensitive and caring approach to children’s needs, who is able to be an effective communicator and think creatively. You will need to show a high degree of initiative and be solution focussed. It would also be beneficial to have experience of working with children with complex needs.

You will need to show initiative, creativity and demonstrate the aptitude to work as part of a successful and growing team to improve the life chances of our pupils and make every child feel special.

Ideally, you will:

  • Be able to build positive relationships with children, staff and parents;

  • Have excellent English and Maths skills;

  • Have high expectations of children’s behaviour and be able to maintain consistent boundaries;

  • Be willing to work as part of a team and have a good sense of humour;

  • Be able to use your own initiative when required;

  • Have experience in a similar role in a school;

  • Have prior knowledge and experience of working with children with special educational needs;

  • Have experience of working with children with complex medical and educational needs.

You should have English and Maths to GCSE A-C or equivalent.
