What skills and experience we're looking for
Hob Moor Oaks Academy is a special school within the Ebor Academy Trust. We are looking to recruit an experienced and highly committed Level 3 Teaching Assistant to primarily work with a child in EYFS with a hearing impairment and Autism. Knowledge and skill in the use of British Sign Language (BSL) is essential.This role is to work 35 hours per week, 8.30am – 4.00pm, Monday – Friday during the school term time.
As a Teaching Assistant you will be passionate about teaching and learning and believe in developing the true potential of children. You will have a calm and positive disposition, the ability to break down activities into small step by step teaching and will nurture, inspire, challenge and motivate pupils. Implementing clear boundaries and routines, you will use positive behaviour management in all areas around school.
We wish to recruit a highly committed Teaching Assistant who has experience of working with children in a supportive capacity and holds a BSL qualification (minimum level 2).
Within this role you will also be working with and alongside a wide range of different professions all with the common goal of ensuring the best care and education is given to our children.
Good, clear and effective communication will play a key role in this position as you will need to work with and alongside the child, their family and other members of staff within the school.
You will have positive behaviour management skills, and be flexible and able to work on your own initiative.
