The Boswells School is looking to appoint an enthusiastic, reliable and dedicated SENCO on a fixed term basis to cover Maternity leave.

We are looking for the successful candidate to work alongside the Assistant Headteacher (Inclusion and SENCO) to be responsible for cultivating an inclusive learning environment throughout The Boswells School. You will develop the graduated response at a whole school level to support pupils with particular learning needs and lead staff in best practice, enabling every pupil to achieve their potential.

Some of the key responsibilities will be:

  • Oversee the strategic direction and development of the school offer for SEND pupils in partnership with Assistant Headteacher (Inclusion and SENCO)
  • Liaise with external agencies and coordinate provision of necessary specialist support for pupils
  • Lead on the planning, implementation and marketing of alternative courses.

We are extremely proud of the achievements of our students. 2019 was another superb year for The Boswells School with our GCSE and A Level results making us one of the highest performing non-selective secondary schools in Essex. In 2019, 55% of our A Level students achieved A* to B grades, 88% of our A Level students achieved A* to C grades, 83% of our GCSE students achieved a Good pass (Grade 4+) in Eniglish and 71% of our GCSE students achieved a Good pass (Grade 4+) in Maths.

The percentage of students who achieved the expected levels of progress in English and Mathematics was significantly above the national average as was the percentage of students who achieved more than expected progress in these areas.
