QUALIFICATIONS AND TRAINING
Essential
- Qualified teacher status
- Degree level qualification
- Evidence of the National Award for Special Educational Needs Coordination
- Evidence of continuing and recent professional development relevant to the post.
Desirable
- Relevant postgraduate professional qualification
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
- At least 12 months experience working as a school SENCO
- Successful teaching and curriculum experience in primary/secondary education
- Experience of delivery, monitoring and evaluation of phonics
- Knowledge and understanding of the statutory responsibilities regarding the SEN Code of Practice
- Demonstrable experience of improving pupil outcomes
- Experience of working in collaboration other educational bodies and the wider community to develop positive relationships
- Experience of effective management and deployment of people and other resources
- Knowledge and commitment of Keeping Children Safe in Education.
- Ability to use data and ICT effectively to assess performance and raise achievement
- Experience of working with children with significant barriers to learning
Desirable
- Experience in making reasonable adjustments and access arrangements for pupils with SEND.
