We are seeking to appoint a passionate, enthusiastic, highly motivated and innovative SENCO to work three days per week and have class responsibilities for two. They should have a proven track record of excellent teaching and a deep understanding of how children learn.
The successful candidate will:
Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and hold the National Award for SEN Coordination or its equivalent (or be willing to work towards it
Have high expectations of all young people, and a commitment to ensuring that all children can achieve their full potential
Be passionate about supporting children with additional needs in their learning and wellbeing
Take responsibility for the day-to-day operation of the SEND policy and will coordinate tailored support for individual pupils with SEN or disabilities through leading and managing support staff to enable them to deliver outstanding SEND provision
Demonstrate a strong understanding of the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive teaching approaches
Provide professional guidance to colleagues and work closely with both staff and our families
Have experience of teaching young people with SEND and ASD within the primary age range
Have experience of working with external agencies to ensure the best outcomes for pupils
Demonstrate excellent behaviour management and communication skills to support pupils with different needs and abilities and have high expectations of learning and behaviour for all
Be actively involved in all aspects of school life, working in partnership with parents and other professionals
Be efficient, flexible, well-organised and an excellent team player.
The successful candidate will also have a strong commitment to inclusive principles and be committed to safeguarding children and young people. We will accept applications from both new and experienced SENCOs.

This post is a customer-facing position and falls within the scope of the Code of Practice on English Language Requirement for Public Sector Workers.
