What skills and experience we're looking for
Drapers’ Academy is looking for a committed and ambitious teacher to join lead our SEND team as SENCo. If you are passionate about effective inclusion and its power to transform lives; if you are able to both challenge others and respond positively to challenge, then Drapers’ Academy will offer you the opportunity to make a real difference to some of our most vulnerable young people’s lives.
Applicants will have significant and relevant middle leader experience and a proven track record of working to support and challenge pupils with SEND. The SENCo will:
- Lead, develop and line manage the SEND Faculty, through a skilled approach that supports and challenges the team.
- Monitor, evaluate and continually improve the quality of planning, teaching and support of all members of the SEND team.
- Model outstanding teaching and lead collaborative planning and development, including the sharing of resources and best practice within the Faculty.
- Be responsible for ensuring all pupils with an EHC plan and those on the SEND register are supported and challenged to achieve their best and are able to access their curriculum effectively.
- Ensure you are up to date with the latest information around statutory obligations as well as best practice as it relates to young people with SEND.
- Liaise with the LA to ensure statutory obligations are met and appropriate support for pupils is accessed swiftly.
