We are excited to offer a unique opportunity to join our Senior Leadership Team as SENCO and Phase Leader for EYFS and Year 1, with additional responsibility for leading phonics supporting early reading

About the Role:

As our mainstream school SENCO, you will play a pivotal role in shaping inclusive practice and ensuring high-quality provision for pupils with additional needs. You will also lead teaching and learning across EYFS and Year 1, supporting staff to deliver outstanding early education and phonics instruction.

This role includes a 0.2-0.4 teaching commitment, primarily supporting PPA across all phases, allowing you to remain connected to classroom practice while developing your leadership skills.

We’re Looking For Someone Who:

Is an excellent classroom practitioner with experience in EYFS and Key Stage 1

Has a secure understanding of phonics and early reading, ideally with experience in Read Write Inc

Holds or is willing to work towards the NASENCo qualification

Demonstrates a strong commitment to inclusive education and high expectations for all learners

Has experience supporting children with a range of special educational needs

Possesses excellent interpersonal, organisational, and leadership skills

Is resilient, flexible, and passionate about making a difference

In This Role, You Will:

Lead and manage SEND provision across the school

Support and develop teaching and learning in EYFS and Year 1

Implement the Trust’s SEND strategy and ensure statutory responsibilities are met

Design and monitor effective interventions

Work collaboratively with staff, parents, and external agencies

Champion high-quality phonics teaching across the early years
