SEND 1:1 Teaching Assistant job summary

Somerlea Park Junior School is an inclusive and nurturing community that lives by three simple values: Be Kind, Be Ready, Work Hard.
We are currently seeking a friendly, dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to join our team and work 1:1 with a KS2 child with additional learning and support needs. This rewarding role involves supporting the child both with their learning and with aspects of personal care always delivered with dignity, respect, and compassion.
You’ll be joining us at a really exciting time. Our school is in the early stages of a brand-new building project, set to be completed in 2026, which will further enhance the learning environment for all our pupils. In addition, Somerlea Park has recently joined the Derbyshire PINS (Promoting Inclusion in Schools) project – a local initiative aimed at supporting schools to strengthen inclusive practices and better meet the diverse needs of all children.
As part of this role, you will work closely with the class teacher, SENCO, and a wider team of experienced, caring staff who are committed to making a difference every day.
If you are passionate about supporting children to thrive and want to be part of a forward-thinking, inclusive school, we’d love to hear from you.

Informed (asking coaching questions to understand what is happening)
