SEND Higher Level Teaching Assistant job summary

We need you to be able to:

- work with individual or groups of pupils with additional needs to support learning as directed by the teacher, SENDCo and Headteacher.

- support working relationships with pupils, acting as role model and setting high expectations.

- meet the personal and physical needs of pupils whilst encouraging their independence.

- support pupils to meet the outcomes outlined on the pupil’s IEPs or EHCP.

- plan and deliver highly adapted lessons which meet the needs of children from a range of year groups who have additional needs.

- monitor and communicate the progress of individual children and identify gaps in learning, planning suitable interventions to address these.

- effectively manage challenging behaviours, particularly those prevalent in children with SEMH needs, using a range of bespoke strategies where needed.

- develop a range of learning support materials and resources (adapting where appropriate for individual pupil needs) e.g. English and Maths.

- work with individuals or groups of pupils in the use of IT to support learning.

- monitor and give feedback on the progress of the pupils in regard to the objectives in their plan.
