SEND HLTA job summary

We are seeking a Higher-Level Teaching Assistant (HLTA) who is confident to lead and teach classes in our Primary Phase. You will support pupils, individually or in groups, so they can access the curriculum, take part in learning and experience a sense of achievement.

To be successful, you will need to have experience of working with children, as well as planning and leading teaching and learning activities. You will have good literacy and numeracy skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships with students and adults.

KEY PURPOSE

Support teachers in planning and preparation:

o SEND HLTAs assist teachers in planning lessons that cater to the individual needs of SEND students, ensuring the curriculum is accessible for all.

Work with whole class groups as directed by Head Teacher.

Lead small group activities:

o Lead small groups of students, offering focused, differentiated learning that meets each pupil's specific needs.

Support individual pupils:

o Work one-on-one with students, providing personalised support to help them engage with lessons and achieve their learning targets.

Monitor progress:

o Play a key role in assessing and monitoring student progress, providing feedback to teachers and other staff to adjust learning plans as necessary.

Participate in multi-disciplinary teams.

Behaviour management:

o Support the management of behaviour in the classroom, promoting a positive and productive learning environment.
