We are seeking an enthusiastic, resilient and highly skilled SEND / Inclusion Teacher to join our secondary school and lead the day-to-day provision within our Inclusion Base.
This role might be suitable for somebody who has been working in specialist provision and/or has been working in the Primary sector with a special interest/skills base with SEND students.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate practitioner who is committed to supporting vulnerable learners, particularly pupils with SEMH needs, barriers to engagement and additional learning needs. The successful candidate will play a central role in delivering targeted interventions, supporting reintegration into mainstream education and helping pupils develop the confidence, skills and strategies needed to succeed.
The Inclusion Base provides a safe, structured and nurturing environment for students requiring additional support to access learning successfully. The postholder will work closely with pastoral leaders, SEND staff, classroom teachers, families and external agencies to ensure pupils receive personalised and impactful support.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver targeted academic, emotional and behavioural interventions for pupils with SEND needs.
- Deliver and support on catch up literacy and numeracy to students with specific needs
- Lead the day-to-day running of the Inclusion Base, creating a calm, purposeful and supportive learning environment.
- Support pupils in successfully reintegrating into mainstream lessons and school routines.
- Develop individual support plans and monitor pupil progress and engagement.
- Work collaboratively with teachers and pastoral staff to identify barriers to learning and implement effective support strategies.
- Advise teaching and behaviour support strategies for colleagues across the school.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils and families.
- Liaise, where required, with external agencies and professionals to support pupil outcomes and wellbeing.
- Contribute to a culture of inclusion, belonging and high expectations for all learners.
We are looking for someone who:
- Is a qualified teacher with experience supporting pupils with SEND and/or SEMH needs. Primary school teachers are encouraged to apply.
- Has strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills.
- Understands trauma-informed and inclusive approaches to education.
- Can deliver targeted interventions that improve engagement, attendance and progress.
- Is calm, resilient and solution focused.
- Has a genuine commitment to inclusion and improving outcomes for vulnerable pupils.
