SEND Lead Teacher (Small group specialist unit) Bungay Primary School Full Time Fixed Term Initially for 2 years. We will consider a secondment for one year from ASSET Candidates

Job Description

You will lead a group of Reception and KS1 pupils who join the Flourish campus at Bungay. These pupils will be placed due to their special educational needs via the local authority panels. You will plan and deliver outstanding cross curricular opportunities whilst fostering a nurturing environment with high expectations that enables pupils to flourish, and build the foundations to be a successful member of society.

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead the group with integrity and passion; creating a nurturing, communication rich environment whereby both staff and pupils flourish

  • Embed an ethos of aspiration, high expectation, low threat whereby staff model expectation through positive interactions with pupils and their families

  • Model excellent communication and interaction with pupils and their families and positive behaviour management strategies; ensuring behaviour expectations are understood by all

  • Plan, coordinate, and deliver effective provision in relation to section F of pupils’ EHC plans and individual development needs

  • Management of Pupil Profiles (IEPs); ensuring pupils development is well planned and tracked

  • Plan and deliver an engaging, accessible curriculum so that children make progress from their starting points and are ready for the next stage of their educational and personal journey

  • Monitor the impact of the curriculum and track performance data to plan next steps, measure progress, challenge staff and pupils

  • Work closely with external agencies to ensure that provision is of the highest quality and that staff knowledge and training is up-to-date

  • Work closely with the SENDCo to support EHCP annual reviews, PEPs, transition, referrals, etc.

  • Work closely with families and carers; building positive and effective relationships that support pupils to feel safe, secure and make progress

  • Liaise with the Trust Head of Inclusion, other Flourish and ASSET specialist unit leads and staff to ensure a consistent approach, share best practice and create a network of professional support
