SEND Learning Support Assistant - Fixed term until July 2026 job summary
Fixed term contract until July 2026. As the post is linked to funding it may be necessary to end the contract earlier. Further discussions will be had at interview stage.
Hours: 9am to 12pm, Monday to Friday. Term time plus 5 additional non-pupil days (39 working weeks / 44.65 paid weeks)
Waterman Primary Academy has an exciting opportunity for a part-time SEND Learning Support Assistant to join their friendly and supportive team. The position will focus on providing support to children with SEND needs, therefore, applicants are expected to have experience of working with children with specific learning needs and social-emotional learning behaviours.
Children are at the HEART of all that we do. We believe that each child deserves an education that enables them to reach their potential both academically and socially.
Applicants must have achieved Grade C or above in English and Maths and be educated to NVQ Level 2 in learning support/early years, NNEB or possess equivalent qualification/experience.
The successful applicant will:
- Work with individuals or small groups of children with SEND needs under the direction of teaching staff;
- Implement planned learning activities/teaching programmes as agreed with colleagues, adjusting activities according to children's response;
- Support children with literacy and numeracy skills;
- Promote the inclusion of children with SEND needs both within the classroom and during non-class-based learning, ensuring access to learning through appropriate clarification, explanation and resources;
- Monitor and record activities; and
- Help children with social, welfare and health needs, including minor first aid and administration of medication
