The Academy Council of St Mary’s Catholic Primary Academy wish to appoint a caring, reliable, calm, positive and skilled person to provide support for pupils with additional needs. In this role, you will use a creative and impactful approach, follow the specific direction of the class teacher and work effectively with the SENDCo to improve access to learning for pupils, whilst enhancing their educational progress, personal experience and character development.
St Mary’s is a wonderful Catholic school enjoying an excellent reputation locally, where we have created a happy, successful and well-resourced learning community. Our children are very well behaved and highly motivated and we love spending our days with them!
We are proud to be serving a richly diverse and inclusive community, inspired by our strong Catholic ethos and tradition which stretches back over 175 years. This is an exciting opportunity for an ambitious individual wanting to grow their skills, expand their experience and make a positive difference to the life chances of all children, but especially one individual.
The post will be subject to the children’s funding being maintained and the children remaining at our school.
We need you to be able to
- support the children on an academic level.
- help them to move around the school safely and to maintain an appropriate focus on their learning tasks in and out of the classroom.
- work closely with the teacher and other support staff to give this child and all their peers the best quality provision we can.
- liaise and communicate with the parent of this child on a regular basis to ensure their care is consistent and appropriate.
- meet the personal and physical needs of pupils such as feeding, toileting and assisting with mobility whilst encouraging their independence.
The successful candidates will be required to support the Catholic ethos and to make a contribution to the extended life of the school where possible. Any additional skills that can be offered should be mentioned in the application process.
Visits to the school are warmly welcomed. To arrange this please contact Mrs Maseela on 01422 362365.
