SEND Teacher and Resource Base Lead job summary
Henbury Court Primary Court Academy are excited to be opening their new resource base for 20 children (in Yr1), growing to 30 children (from Yr2) with a primary need of communication and interaction. This resource base highlights our commitment to inclusivity, nurture and support from some of the most vulnerable learners in our community. Henbury Court is a school with a full Nursery, educating children from 2-11 years old.
Salary: M1 - M6 £32,916 - £45,352 + TLR2a £3,526.40 (depending on experience)
Contract: Full Time
Closing date: Friday 1 May 2026 at 9am
Interview date: W/C 4 May 2026, Time TBC, although arrival will be AM
Purpose:
To lead teaching and learning within the school’s resource base provision for pupils with primary needs relating to Speech Language and Communication (SLCN), Communication & Interaction (C&I) and Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). The role involves delivering high-quality, personalised education programmes that enable pupils to achieve their full potential academically, socially, and emotionally, while promoting inclusion within the wider school community.
We are looking for:
- Someone who has evidence of strong, adaptive teaching and a positive track record of impact
- Knowledge and understanding of research relating to C&I, ASD and SLCN with the ability to demonstrate best practice through evidence of impact over time
- Has worked within a resource bas, specialist setting or SEND unit
- Has designed curriculum to meet the needs of children with complex needs - with evidence of training staff to be the best they can be
- Someone who is looking for the next step in their career, who is hungry to develop their leadership skills and craft to build and galvanise a team of staff within the school system
- Someone who can motivate; someone who can bring their passion to ignite learning and drive outcomes
- A practitioner who can naturally build relationships with staff, families and the children
- Evidence of excellent teaching, particularly relating to children with complex need. The ability to translate your own ability to teach to shape and grow less senior staff
- The ability to drive pupil progress and help children to achieve the best outcomes, working alongside colleagues in the mainstream school
- The willingness to go above and beyond to close the gaps and remove barriers for our children and families
