What skills and experience we're looking for

Required to start ASAP – Temporary Contract until August 2027

A unique and exciting mid-year opportunity has arisen. The Governors of Stradbroke School wish to appoint a dedicated and highly skilled teacher to work full time within our specialist learning provision, based in the mainstream school. The role involves supporting EYFS and KS1 children with severe and complex needs. This post is initially for 18 months, with the potential to become permanent.

Stradbroke is a vibrant and inclusive learning community with approximately 500 pupils, including a large nursery and an Integrated Resource Unit for children with complex SEND needs. Following an inspection at the end of the summer term in 2022, the school was judged to continue to be Good in all areas. We are now seeking to appoint a teacher who can further enhance our provision and ensure the highest quality support for our youngest learners with SEND.

We are looking for a committed and professional practitioner who can deliver creative and innovative approaches to SEND learning for children with a range of complex needs. You will be responsible for planning and delivering personalised, adaptive, and inclusive teaching for a small group of pupils, while also supporting colleagues to do the same. The successful candidate will have strong interpersonal skills and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a cohesive, multidisciplinary team supporting children across EYFS and KS1.

Excellent communication skills are essential, particularly when working with parents and external professionals. An awareness of the SEND Code of Practice, along with experience or knowledge of annual reviews and SEND meetings, would be desirable. You will be a positive, resilient, and enthusiastic team player, with a genuine determination to make a meaningful difference to the lives of pupils with special educational needs.

We welcome applications from ECTs who have trained via the special route, as well as teachers with experience in the special sector. In return, we offer wonderful and enthusiastic children, alongside excellent opportunities for professional development, including bespoke CPD packages delivered by a supportive and committed in-house team.

Visits to the school are warmly welcomed and strongly encouraged. To arrange a visit or an informal discussion with the Headteacher, please contact the school office on 0114 239 9320.

Stradbroke School is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare and safety of children and young people. The successful candidate will be required to undertake an enhanced Criminal Records Disclosure.

For further details, an application form, or to arrange a conversation with the Headteacher, please email recruitment@stradbroke.sheffield.sch.uk.
