SEND Teacher job summary
The Sele School is seeking to appoint an outstanding and experienced educator of young people who find learning difficult primarily due to their cognitive working levels, yet are committed and eager to learn in spite of this.
The successful candidate will be working alongside the SENCO and Heads of the Maths and English faculties, ensuring targeted students have the required support and relevant curriculum to maximise their full school experience. At all times you will be working in a small group teaching environment where the educational offer can be progressive, bespoke and nurturing due to the size of the group. You will be anticipated to plan, deliver and assess the learning of identified students in Maths and English in Key Stage 3, and lead on the delivery of Entry Level Qualifications at Key Stage 4.
This role would suit a colleague who is either experienced in working with students with SEND-either as a teacher, a SENCO or indeed a primary school teacher, as this group of young people will be working significantly below age related expectations. Our overall goals for these students are to develop their literacy and numeracy skills alongside providing a broad and diverse curriculum, ensure they can use and apply these skills in everyday life, and prepare them for future employment and independent living.
This is a new role at The Sele School and would suit a professional who has the passion to have a real impact on the learning of some of our most vulnerable students who otherwise may struggle to achieve their personal best within a mainstream, secondary setting.
The successful candidate will;
-have a track record of high impact teaching
-has the skill set to assess students gaps in learning and skills and address these through a highly personalised curriculum in both Maths and English
- be inspiring, dynamic, nurturing and passionate
-promote The Sele school’s ethos and values
What can we offer you?
- The opportunity to work with excellent students whose behaviour is exemplary
- The chance to work in a positive, welcoming and forward-thinking community where evidence-based methods are seamlessly integrated into teaching and learning
- A dedicated staff who are enthusiastic and who want the best for our students
- Coaching provision for all those new to the school within a comprehensive and fully developed induction programme
- A CPD package which is tailored to suit your stage of career development
- Cycle to work scheme which is part of the school’s sustainability strategy
Our ethos Non Ducor Duco: I am not led, I lead - is a lived experience in our community. We view education as a transformative process and if you feel you have the discipline and work ethic to teach at the highest level then The Sele School is the place for you. The learning climate is impeccable and the culture of driving up standards is upheld by all who attend The Sele School. We offer our staff a comprehensive CPD programme with opportunities to visit our partner schools.
If you wish to learn more about the school, please feel free to view the videos on our school website which can be found on the “About Us - School Vision and Ethos.”
If you wish to see the school in action, please contact the Headteachers PA, Madeline Genovese, to arrange a visit to the school, at: hr@sele.herts.sch.uk . Applications must be made using the online system (CVs, or applications made using any other format, will not be accepted) to be considered for interview. Unfortunately, we are unable to sponsor applicants from overseas. The Sele School community is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people and all staff and volunteers are expected to demonstrate this commitment in all aspects of their work. Applicants for this post must be willing to undergo child protection training. A full enhanced DBS check will be undertaken and references will be sought prior to appointment start date.
