SEND TEACHING ASSISTANT Band D – Actual Salary between £15,372 and £17,664 32.5 hours per week for 39 weeks per annum - Term time only 8.45am - 4pm Monday - Thursday, 8.45am - 2.45pm Friday Mount Tamar is a vibrant, well established specialist school with a bright future in Plymouth. We are looking to appoint an enthusiastic, motivated and flexible SEND Teaching Assistant to join our School. The Role: We are looking for a candidate who has a passion for working with pupils with Social and Emotional needs, particularly children with ASD and SEMH. You will need to be resilient, compassionate, understanding and above all highly driven towards pupil progression. We are looking for a highly experienced and positive communicator, with a natural ability to work cooperatively within a whole staff environment. You will need to have previous experience of working with children, not specifically schools, candidates with youth worker or voluntary sector experience will be considered. You will need to have at least a GCSE grade C / 4 or equivalent in English and Maths. The specific areas of responsibility for TAs will depend upon which class they are based in and they should follow guidance from the class teacher. Tasks can include: Support the teacher in creating an organised and vibrant learning environment. Support pupils in their learning under the direction of the teacher. Assist the class teacher with observations of pupil progress and school’s record keeping systems including the filing of children’s work. Preparation of the classroom for pupils ‘activities, tidying and clearing away, cleaning of equipment and help maintain an ordered and attractive classroom. Creating a Total Communication environment with support from the teacher You will be supporting children with their education on a 1:1 and small group basis.
