About the Role:
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting our children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) while also contributing to the broader educational experience as a class teacher. This role requires balancing the responsibilities of leading SEND provision and leading a class effectively to ensure high-quality education and achievement for all children.
Key Responsibilities:
SEND Coordination:
- Overseeing the school's SEN policy
- Coordinating provisions for pupils with SEND
- Liaising with parents, staff and external agencies
- Supporting the identification of SEND needs
- Monitoring progress and attainment
- Advocating for SEND pupils
- Overseeing our enhanced provision
- Being part of the DSL team
Teaching:
- Teach well-structured lessons following the school's plan, curriculum and schemes of work
- Assess, monitor, record and report on the learning needs, progress and achievements
- Adapt teaching to respond to the strengths and needs of the pupils
- Set high expectations which inspire, motivate and challenge the pupils
- Promote good progress and outcomes from pupils
- Demonstrate good subject and curriculum knowledge.
We are looking for:
- Believes in each child and has high aspirations for their achievement.
- Has experience working with children with SEND.
- Possesses a strong understanding of SEND legislation and best practices.
- Has or is willing to work towards the NPQ for SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators).
- Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Has great ideas and is eager to share them!
- Delights in being with children and puts their well-being at the heart of everything.
- Sincerely values every member of the school community.
- Has the ability to make learning fun and engaging, ensuring all children are appropriately challenged.
