Passionate SENDCO Wanted for Pupil Referral Unit (PRU)
We are seeking to appoint an inspirational, resilient and highly motivated SENDCo to strengthen our SEND provision within a Pupil Referral Unit setting. You will play a key role in ensuring that all pupils, many of whom present with complex social, emotional and mental health needs alongside additional learning needs, receive the targeted support required to re-engage with education and achieve positive outcomes.
The SENDCo will play a key strategic role in shaping inclusive practice and ensuring ACE delivers a high-quality, sustainable and compliant SEND provision across all pathways. You will provide strategic leadership and oversight of SEND provision, ensuring high-quality, inclusive education and strong outcomes for all pupils. You will lead the identification, assessment and provision for pupils with SEND, ensuring effective intervention and measurable impact, and ensure full statutory compliance in line with the SEND Code of Practice.
As the school’s lead professional for SEND, you will be responsible for shaping the strategic direction of provision across the setting, line managing support staff, and overseeing the implementation of the SEND policy. You will ensure a consistent, flexible and responsive graduated approach tailored to individual needs, enabling every pupil to reach their full potential.
This role requires a strong commitment to collaborative working, building effective relationships with staff, families, and a wide range of external agencies to support pupils’ progress, wellbeing, and successful reintegration into education or transition to their next stage.

What we are looking for:
- Applicants must hold the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCo) or equivalent qualification
- Hold QTS (qualified teacher status)
- An individual who can oversee the EHCP process, reviews and SEND documentation
- Ability to oversee the Exams Access Arrangements for SEND students
- An excellent communicator with strong inter-personal and administrative skills
- Extensive experience of working in a school
- A well-organised, proactive individual with the ability to work effectively and lead a team
- An individual who works well with staff and students alike
