SENDCO job summary

We are delighted to offer two new exciting SENDCO posts, one in each of our schools. This is a fantastic development opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of children.

We are seeking experienced and committed teaching professionals who are passionate about inclusion and dedicated to securing the best possible outcomes for all children. The successful candidates will be confident, compassionate, and skilled in building strong relationships with families, professionals, and colleagues. They will be accountable for SEND and work collaboratively as part of a wider team. Overall responsibility for SEND will rest with a member of the Senior Leadership Team. The successful candidates will play a key role in shaping high-quality SEND provision across the school and supporting staff in delivering inclusive, effective teaching. We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds the SENDCO qualification or is willing to work towards it.
  • Has a strong understanding of the full EHCP process and can manage and complete the process effectively from referral through to implementation and review.
  • Demonstrates excellent time management skills and the ability to meet deadlines consistently in a busy school environment.
  • Strong leadership ability, with a proven capacity to support, motivate, and inspire colleagues through leading by example.
  • Has excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage confidently and empathetically with parents and carers.
  • Is able to build and maintain positive relationships with external professionals and stakeholders, working collaboratively to support children’s needs.
  • Can work with subject leaders and class teachers to make informed, appropriate curriculum adaptations that enable access for all learners.
  • Shows strong emotional intelligence, resilience, and the ability to manage sensitive situations with care and professionalism.
  • Has a solution-focused mindset, using initiative and creativity to remove barriers to learning.
