About this Role
Bournville Village Primary School is a large, forward-thinking three-form entry primary school in South Birmingham, with a strong commitment to inclusion and doing the very best for every child.
We are seeking to appoint a highly motivated SENDCo to lead and further develop our SEND provision. This is a key leadership role within the school, working closely with SLT to ensure that our inclusive ethos translates into consistently high-quality provision for all learners.
You will be joining a school that values clarity, structure and doing things properly — where SEND is not an add-on, but central to how we think about teaching, learning and support.
This role is well-supported and set up to succeed, including:
- A dedicated SEND Assistant to support administration, coordination and organisation
- Clearly protected leadership time to allow you to focus on strategic SEND development, casework and collaboration
- A leadership team that understands the realities of the role and works alongside you
We are looking for someone who:
- Has a strong working knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and can apply it effectively in a busy school context
- Is confident leading SEND across a large primary setting and supporting staff to deliver high-quality inclusive practice
- Can balance strategic leadership with operational detail, ensuring systems are robust, efficient and compliant
- Builds positive, professional relationships with pupils, families and external agencies
- Is an excellent communicator, able to challenge, support and influence colleagues
- Is highly organised, able to prioritise effectively and keep things moving forward
- Is committed to ensuring that all children, regardless of need, can thrive and succeed
The role will include:
- Leading and managing SEND provision across the school
- Working closely with SLT to shape and drive inclusive practice
- Overseeing EHCP processes, reviews and external agency engagement
- Supporting and developing staff to deliver high-quality adaptive teaching
- Ensuring systems, documentation and provision are clear, consistent and effective
- Line managing and working alongside the SEND Assistant and BVPS Teaching Assistants
