Purpose:
You will be an inspirational, knowledgeable and courageous leader who is excited to join Nova Primary School and lead our dedicated Learning Support Team. You will play a pivotal role in building on our transformative SEND provision, acting as a fierce advocate for our most vulnerable children and ensuring they thrive academically, socially and emotionally. As an integral part of our Senior Leadership and Safeguarding teams, you will champion equity and inclusion, helping to remove barriers to learning and ensuring every child receives the bespoke support they deserve.
You will work within a vibrant, diverse community where unconditional positive regard and a trauma-informed approach are central to our practice. You will oversee strategic SEND management, lead statutory processes and support colleagues in delivering high-quality, differentiated teaching that reflects our "limitless" ethos. Working closely with families and external agencies, you will build the strong partnerships necessary to secure the very best outcomes for our pupils. This is a rewarding opportunity for a passionate professional who is committed to social justice and keen to lead within a forward-thinking school that values professional well-being and creative ambition.
Duties (further details in the attached application pack):
- Lead and develop high-quality SEND provision across the school, ensuring that policies and practices secure good or better progress for all pupils through a well-managed and appropriately differentiated curriculum.
- Coordinate, monitor and report on the impact of interventions, using data analysis and prior attainment to set clear targets for vulnerable learners and inform strategic next steps in line with Nova’s high expectations.
- Maintain high expectations for equity and inclusion, fostering an unapologetically trauma-informed ethos and working as a Deputy DSL to ensure the safety, health and happiness of every child.
- Oversee and manage statutory processes and funding, including EHCP applications and GRSS, while ensuring that specific resources are used efficiently to provide bespoke support for children with additional needs.
- Act as an inspirational leader and line manager for the Learning Support Team, working collaboratively with the Senior Leadership Team to uphold the school’s vision and contribute to the wider life of the school.
- Build and sustain strong, advocacy-led partnerships with parents, carers and external agencies, chairing reviews and maintaining effective home/school liaison to ensure a constructive support network for every family.
- Take responsibility for the professional development of staff, sharing expertise and leading training to ensure all colleagues are equipped with the knowledge and skills to meet the individual needs of every child.
- Serve as the Designated Teacher for Looked After Children (LAC), upholding the highest standards of professionalism and safeguarding to ensure the welfare and limitless potential of our most vulnerable pupils.
We offer:
- Enhanced CPD, including access to professional networks across the Trust
- Paid induction and training suited to the role
- Confidential access to an Employee Assistance Programme
