SENDCo Maternity Cover job summary

One-year fixed-term contract

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated SENDCo to join the SHSG Team for a one-year fixed term maternity cover.

As SENDCo, you will play a key role in shaping a provision where inclusion is central to our ethos and pursuit of excellence. You will work closely with experienced colleagues to ensure that students with SEND are not only supported but encouraged to thrive. You will help ensure that all students, regardless of need or background, can access our ambitious curriculum and vibrant co-curricular programme. With guidance and support, you’ll contribute to a culture where personalised support and high expectations go hand in hand, and where every student is empowered to reach their potential.

We are looking for an excellent candidate who will:

  • Lead the school’s SEND strategy, ensuring high-quality, inclusive support that enables all pupils to thrive and make strong progress.

  • Ensure statutory compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and Equality Act, maintaining robust policies, EHCP processes, and accurate reporting.

  • Champion inclusive teaching and learning by working with staff to embed adaptive, ambitious classroom practice across the curriculum.

  • Develop staff expertise through effective professional development and managing the SEND Support Team to build whole-school capacity.

  • Monitor outcomes and inclusion, using data to drive improvement, support smooth transitions, and ensure all SEND pupils access the full life of the school.
