Southtown Primary School is a welcoming school who aim to nurture, encourage and develop our students throughout their primary education.  We provide a broad and balanced curriculum designed to provide our pupils with sufficient knowledge and skills they need to succeed in life.  Our children are encouraged to value not only themselves and their independence, but also to respect and celebrate the opinions, achievements and cultures of others. 

We are seeking a dedicated and knowledgeable SENDCo to join our staff team. This is a part time post (0.6FTE / 3 days per week). We would like a practitioner who can really make a difference for our pupils; one who is a kind, motivated professional ready to go the extra mile for our pupils. You will play a key role in shaping and delivering high-quality SEND provision, ensuring that all pupils with additional needs receive the support and guidance required to thrive. Working closely with staff, parents, and external agencies, you will provide strategic leadership and drive forward our inclusive ethos. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of our pupils and contribute to the ongoing success of our school.

The successful candidate will:

  • Be a qualified teacher with QTS and ideally hold the National Award for SEN Coordination (NASENCO), or be willing to work towards it
  • Have successful experience in coordinating SEND provision, ideally in a primary setting.
  • Be highly knowledgeable in SEND legislation, the SEND Code of Practice and inclusive strategies.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to working with pupils with a range of additional needs.
  • Be an excellent communicator who can lead, support and inspire both staff and families.
  • Be proactive, organised and reflective, always striving for the best outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with the senior leadership team to shape and monitor high-impact SEND strategy.
  • Be pupil centred and committed to the ethos of our school
  • Be positive and have good interpersonal and organisational skills.
