What skills and experience we're looking for

Main purpose

The SENCO, under the direction of the headteacher, will:

Determine the strategic development of special educational needs (SEN) policy and provision in the school including alternative provision rooms Honey bee and Bumble.

Be responsible for day-to-day operation of the SEN policy and co-ordination of specific provision to support individual pupils with SEN or a disability, Gifted and Talented and those in receipt of Pupil Premium and children with medical needs.

Provide professional guidance to colleagues, working closely with staff, parents and other agencies

The SENCO will be expected to fulfil the responsibilities of a teacher (covering PPA or teaching one afternoon/morning in our alternative provision rooms), as set out in the STPCD

Supporting pupils with medical needs by liaising with parents and health services, ensuring health needs are considered within the overall SEN strategy and the school's Equality Act 2010 responsibilities

Promoting and safeguard the safety and welfare of children and young people

Be a member of the senior leadership team

Undertake such duties as are delegated by the Headteacher.

Must hold the NPQ SENCO qualification
